Helping you navigate through life's challenges with compassion and expertise

Expertise tailored to your needs

With over 10 years of experience, I specialize in helping South Asian clients and emerging adults navigate through life's challenges. From anxiety and depression to relationship issues and burnout, I am here to guide you towards a happier, more fulfilling life. I understand that life has probably presented you with various challenges and it's commendable that you are seeking guidance towards a happier and more fulfilling life. Whether it’s the expectations of others, the shortcomings we hold against ourselves or any other challenge, day-to-day life can seem overwhelming after absorbing so much pressure without a good enough outlet. When it comes to anxiety and depression, it's important to remember that seeking support is crucial. Whether it's through therapy, counseling, or speaking with a trusted friend or family member, having someone who can listen without judgment can make a significant difference. Relationship issues can also be complex and emotionally draining especially for South Asians and emerging adults. Open communication, empathy, and a willingness to work on yourself are all key elements in navigating these challenges. Seeking professional help from an individual or couples therapist could also be beneficial in improving the dynamics of your relationships. Burnout is an unfortunate consequence of our fast-paced lives. Taking care of yourself is essential but it can be difficult to figure out exactly how to do this without losing some productivity. I rely heavily on my experience but also my ability to listen without judgment to truly understand your position and how you experience these issues before offering solutions.

A comprehensive approach to therapy

I am trained in various evidence-based therapeutic modalities including CBT, attachment-based therapy, Existential therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Bowen Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy. This means that I can tailor our sessions to meet your unique needs and provide you with effective strategies for growth and healing.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

A set of techniques that gives us an opportunity to slow down the flow of the automatic thoughts that cause you frequent anxiety and distress. Once we understand where these thoughts originated, we focus on establishing thought patterns that will actually serve you instead of holding you back. This clarity, along with several other techniques, helps you make decisions where the answers align with your core values.

Attachment-based/Psychodynamic Therapy

A set of techniques that gives us an opportunity to identify and understand the patterns you have probably found across multiple relationships in your life. For many South Asians and emerging adults, these patterns can include: people pleasing, guilt when making decisions for your own happiness over others, frequently feeling like you are at fault even though there are so many levels to this we are ignoring. After we understand these patterns, we work together on establishing relationships and new patterns which allow you to leave conversations with a sense of security, feeling more replenished and feeling less drained.

Existential Therapy

A set of techniques that gives us an opportunity to understand the meaning behind the different events in your life both past and present. Some people believe that things happen for a reason but this treatment method allows us to truly hone in on your values, beliefs, purpose and your identity. Once we get to know the real you, you begin to gain control over the various stresses you feel such as family pressures, anxious thoughts and constant guilt.

Reality Therapy

A set of techniques that gives us an opportunity to truly understand how your current relationships are replenishing you vs. draining you. Through this process, we learn more about your real needs such as: secure relationships that don’t constantly leave you questioning yourself and confidence when making decisions instead of dwelling on what if’s of the past.

Solution-Focused Therapy

A set of techniques that gives us an opportunity to work on coping skills that help you feel better in the short-term rather quickly but mainly so we can focus on implementing long-term changes. These techniques are often combined with other approaches so you can feel confident that therapy is actually working on core issues as we go into the deeper causes of your issues.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

A set of techniques that gives couples and families an opportunity to get to the root of the arguments they find themselves having over and over again. Typically, the pattern of communication used by couples and families focuses on the immediate issues but not the vulnerable feelings (rejection, guilt, triggers of past relationships) where one person reacts by consistently blaming while the other retreats further into their shell. Together, we learn and practice communication strategies that are more effective than the offensive/defensive interactions that occur naturally.

Bowen Family Systems

A set of techniques that gives couples and families an opportunity to change their communication patterns by looking at the broader patterns of interaction perpetuate the problem. For some clients this is the use of passive-aggressive communication, continuing patterns of communication just because that is how their parents communicated or even one person in the family feeling singled out all too frequently. Together, we change these patterns by using more direct communication and establishing ground rules for communication within the family moving forward.
